01

What we do

A yacht's electrical system is several systems sharing one hull: shore power, generators, battery banks, inverters and chargers, AC and DC distribution, and on top of all that the navigation and communication electronics. When something goes wrong, the fault is often a long way from where it shows up.

We start by measuring rather than replacing parts on a hunch, then fix the cause: a corroded connection, a tired battery bank, a charger set up for the wrong battery type, or a navigation network that has lost a device.

  1. 01

    Fault-finding

AC and DC faults traced through distribution panels, breakers, cabling and connections, including the intermittent ones that only show up underway.

  2. 02

    Batteries and charging

Battery banks, chargers, alternator charging and battery monitoring, set up for the batteries actually fitted.

  3. 03

    Inverters and shore power

Inverter-chargers, shore-power inlets and cables, and changeover between shore, generator and inverter supply.

  4. 04

    Navigation electronics

Chartplotters, radar, autopilots, instruments and network faults, plus installation and upgrades.

  5. 05

    Communications and monitoring

VHF and other communication equipment, system monitoring (Maretron), and thermal and night-vision cameras (FLIR).

  6. 06

    Lighting upgrades

Interior, deck and underwater lighting, including conversion to LED.

02

Common faults and what usually causes them

Batteries going flat overnightA parasitic drain, a charger or alternator not charging fully, or a battery bank at the end of its life. We measure the drain and test the bank.
Shore power keeps trippingToo much load for the pedestal supply, a leak to earth somewhere on board, or a damaged shore cable or plug.
Inverter alarm or shutdownLow battery voltage, overload, overheating or a settings problem. Note the alarm code shown.
Navigation displays losing dataA network fault, a failed device or a bad connection on the data backbone, or a power-supply problem.
Warm or discoloured cables, connections or switchesA loose or corroded connection under load. Switch off the circuit if it's safe and have it checked. It's a fire risk.
Lights flickering or dimmingVoltage drop from a poor connection, a struggling battery bank, or generator voltage dipping under load.

The equipment we see most

Manufacturers whose equipment we service. Not listed? Send us the make and model.

  • Mastervolt

Chargers, inverters, batteries and digital monitoring, common on European-built yachts.

  • Victron Energy

Inverter-chargers, solar controllers and battery monitoring, often on sailing yachts and catamarans.

  • Raymarine and Garmin

Chartplotters, radar, autopilots and instruments: installation, networking and fault-finding.

  • Simrad / B&G and Furuno

Navigation and sailing electronics, from B&G instruments on sailing yachts to Furuno radar.

  • Maretron and FLIR

Maretron vessel monitoring and FLIR thermal cameras, for keeping an eye on systems and seeing at night.

Mallorca

Heat, salt and electrics

A warm, salty climate is hard on connections. Salt air and condensation work their way into terminals and plugs, especially in lockers and engine rooms, and summer heat shortens battery life. A yearly check of the main connections and battery banks catches most of it before it turns into a fault.

What to send us

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.

  • What has failed, and what still works
  • Whether the yacht is on shore power, generator or batteries
  • Photos of the panel, breakers or any alarm on the display
  • Battery type and approximate age, if it's a charging problem
  • Equipment make and model, for electronics faults

Describe it once — we arrive prepared

Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

Questions captains ask

Mastervolt and Victron Energy for power systems; Raymarine, Garmin, Simrad / B&G and Furuno for navigation; Maretron for monitoring; FLIR for thermal cameras.

Usually a parasitic drain, incomplete charging or a worn-out battery bank. We measure the standing drain, check charger and alternator output, and test the batteries before recommending anything.

Yes: chartplotters, radar, autopilots, instruments and network integration, as well as repairing and fault-finding existing systems.

Either the load is more than the pedestal can supply, or something on board is leaking current to earth, or the shore cable or plug is damaged. Try switching off the large loads and reconnecting. If it still trips, we'll need to trace it.

Yes. LED upgrades are part of our electrical service, for interior, deck and underwater lighting.
