Eleven builders and fifteen yachts in the Bluebnc Yachting managed fleet in Mallorca, with five different ways of getting power to the water. Each page sets out the machinery the builder published for the model, what we check first, and answers to common technical questions.

Five drive types in one fleet
How the power gets to the water changes what a service involves. The table shows what was published for each model; we confirm the installed drive on board.
- Shafts
- Engine and gearbox drive a shaft line through the hull to a fixed propeller, with rudders for steering. Alignment, shaft seals, bearings and couplings are part of every service.
- IPS pods
- Volvo Penta pods with forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers, steered individually and controlled through EVC. Pod oil, seals, anodes, propellers and software are serviced together.
- Surface drives
- Surface-piercing propellers on drives that trim, running partly clear of the water at speed. Trim hydraulics, transom seals, rudders and propellers need regular checks.
- Sterndrives
- The engine sits inboard and a drive leg outside the transom steers and trims. Bellows, gear oil, anodes and propellers are the routine items.
- V-drive
- The engine sits far aft facing forward, and a V-drive gearbox turns the power back towards the stern to a conventional shaft. Gearbox, coupling and shaft alignment get extra attention.
