We service Volvo Penta main engines, IPS drives and EVC installations across Mallorca, from our Palma workshop or on board at a berth, shipyard or anchorage. Book online, describe the fault and upload photos so our AI technical assistant can prepare a job brief, or call +34 971 251 374 for 24/7 breakdown support.

Part of our service
Main EnginesVolvo Penta lists D6, D8 and D11 as in-line six-cylinder marine diesels. D6 and D8 use common-rail injection, while D11 is listed with electronic unit injectors, so the exact engine variant should be confirmed before fuel-system work.
Listed D6, D8, D11 and D13-IPS configurations use heat-exchanger cooling, while D6 and D8 also list keel-cooling options. Cooling work therefore starts by identifying the installation as well as the engine.
Electronic Vessel Control, EVC, is Volvo Penta's drive-by-wire system for throttle, gearshift, steering and trim. EVC work needs both control-station and machinery-space checks.
D13-IPS is a package combining engine, transmission and drive, with forward-facing twin counter-rotating propellers and EVC integration from helm to prop. An IPS fault can involve controls, pod or propeller rather than the main engine alone.
We carry out planned engine servicing to the manufacturer schedule, based on the model, serial number, running hours and installation. We inspect service items, fluids and visible leaks before agreeing any further work.
On heat-exchanger-cooled installations, we inspect the seawater flow path, strainers, pump condition, heat exchangers, coolers, hose connections and coolant side. This is particularly relevant during Mallorca's hot summer running.
For hard starting, smoke, rough running or low power, we work methodically through fuel condition and restriction, air supply, charge-air pipework and the engine's basic mechanical condition. Findings are tied back to the operating symptoms.
We investigate alarms and loss of response by checking power supply, earths, control heads, connectors and vessel-side wiring. We correlate the findings with the symptoms recorded at the helm.
For IPS-equipped yachts, we assess pod steering and drive controls, gearcase fluid condition, propellers and external damage. Underwater inspection or removal work is planned around safe access and the yacht's operating constraints.
Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

| The EVC display is alarmed and throttle or gear response is intermittent. | We first record the message and operating conditions, then check battery and charging voltage, EVC power and earth connections, control-head connectors and accessible wiring. The alarm should not be cleared before it has been recorded. |
| Engine temperature rises or exhaust water flow is reduced. | We first check the seawater intake, strainer, raw-water pump condition, impeller, hose runs, coolant level and obvious leaks. On heat-exchanger-cooled installations, we then assess the exchanger and cooler circuit for restricted flow or poor heat transfer. |
| One engine cranks poorly, will not start or loses power under load. | We first check the battery and charging condition, fuel level and quality, water contamination, filter restriction and air supply. We then compare engine readings and running behaviour with the reported load and rpm at which the fault occurs. |
| The yacht will not engage gear cleanly or an IPS installation no longer handles as expected. | We first record any control alarms and check the control response, fluid condition, visible leaks and propeller condition. For an IPS installation, we also inspect accessible pod steering and drive connections before deciding whether underwater access is required. |
This is a guide, not a diagnosis. If anything affects safety, stop and call us on +34 971 251 374.
The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.
Yes. Our mobile engineers attend yachts at berths, shipyards and anchorages in Mallorca and throughout the Balearic Islands. Send the yacht's location, access details, engine model and symptoms when you book. We will assess the information and provide a quote within two hours of contact under our published process.
Service scope follows the manufacturer schedule for the exact engine and installation, not a fixed local package. We review the running hours, maintenance record and any alarms, then carry out the agreed routine checks and replacement work. On IPS or EVC-equipped yachts, the condition of the related driveline and controls is also considered.
If an alarm appears or an engine stops, follow the yacht's operating procedures, reduce load or stop only when safe, and record the message and engine conditions. Do not keep attempting restarts without noting what happens. Call the 24/7 emergency line on +34 971 251 374. Our published emergency response is within two hours.
