What we do

Vibration is how a drive train tells you something is wrong. A propeller blade touched on a mooring line, an engine mount that has settled, a shaft that's out of line or a worn cutless bearing all show up as vibration first, then as wear on seals, bearings and gearboxes.

We look after the whole path from gearbox to propeller: shaft alignment, couplings, bearings and seals, propellers, waterjets, and the steering systems on motor and sailing yachts.

  1. 01

    Shaft alignment

Alignment between engine, gearbox and shaft checked and corrected, including engine mounts, couplings and intermediate bearings.

  2. 02

    Propellers

Removal, inspection, repair coordination and refitting, plus fouling and damage checks at haul-out.

  3. 03

    Gearboxes and drives

Marine gearboxes including ZF Marine: oil, coolers, engagement and shift problems, and drive systems.

  4. 04

    Waterjets

Waterjet propulsion including Marine Jet Power (MJP) and Rolls-Royce (KaMeWa) units: inspection, wear parts and steering and reversing gear.

  5. 05

    Steering systems

Rudders, rudder bearings and steering gear, including Jefa and Lewmar steering on sailing yachts.

  6. 06

    Seals and cutless bearings

Shaft seals and stern-tube bearings inspected and replaced, best planned with a haul-out.

02

Common faults and what usually causes them

New vibration at certain rpmA damaged or fouled propeller, misalignment, a worn cutless bearing or a tired engine mount.
Water coming in at the shaft sealA worn seal or a seal damaged by vibration. Keep an eye on the bilge and get it checked straight away.
Clunk when engaging gear, or slow to engageIdle speed, gearbox oil level or condition, the shift cable or control, or a coupling problem.
Top speed down at the same rpmA fouled hull and propellers, propeller damage, or, on waterjets, wear or debris in the impeller.
Heavy, stiff or vague steeringRudder bearings, steering cables or linkages, or the hydraulic steering itself.
Gearbox temperature alarmLow oil, a blocked oil cooler or a cooling-water problem.

The equipment we see most

Manufacturers whose equipment we service. Not listed? Send us the make and model.

  • ZF Marine

Marine gearboxes and transmissions, fitted to a large share of motor yachts.

  • Rolls-Royce (KaMeWa)

KaMeWa waterjets, found on fast motor yachts.

  • Marine Jet Power (MJP)

Waterjet propulsion for fast yachts and tenders.

  • Jefa and Lewmar

Rudders, rudder bearings and steering systems on sailing yachts.

  • Evolution Marine

Propulsion and steering components serviced as part of our drive-train work.

Lines, buoys and propellers

Busy summer harbours and anchorages mean mooring lines, lost ropes and floating debris, and they all find propellers. A small ding that adds vibration is easy to put up with for a season. It costs more later in seals, bearings and gearbox wear.

What to send us

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.

  • When the vibration or noise appears (rpm, speed, in gear or out)
  • Any recent contact with a line, debris or the seabed
  • When the yacht was last hauled out and the propellers serviced
  • Gearbox or waterjet make and model
  • A short video with sound, if you can record one safely

Describe it once — we arrive prepared

Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

Questions captains ask

The usual causes are propeller damage or fouling, shaft misalignment, worn cutless bearings and settled engine mounts. We work out which it is before recommending a fix, and some fixes can be done afloat.

Alignment is often checked and corrected afloat, since that's how the yacht sits in service. Propellers, cutless bearings and some shaft-seal work need a haul-out.

Yes. Watch the bilge level, make sure the bilge pumps are working, and call +34 971 251 374. If water is coming in faster than the pumps can clear it, treat it as an emergency.

Yes: waterjets including Marine Jet Power (MJP) and Rolls-Royce (KaMeWa), covering inspection, wear parts and the steering and reversing gear.
