Blueward Marine services and repairs MTU main diesel engines on yachts in Palma, across Mallorca and throughout the Balearics. Book online, describe the fault and upload panel or engine-room photos so our AI technical assistant can prepare the job brief. For a breakdown, call our 24/7 emergency line and we will arrange an engineer to attend.

Main EnginesMTU describes its yacht propulsion systems as integrating engines, gearboxes, auxiliary power units and automation systems. A main-engine visit therefore includes attention to the interfaces around the engine, not just the mechanical unit.
Series 2000 and Series 4000 are MTU's yacht engine families. We confirm the exact variant from the data plate and the installation before the service scope is agreed.
MTU states that its automation systems control and monitor engine hardware. Recorded panel alarms and trend information are useful starting points during diagnosis.
On the Series 4000, MTU lists ADEC engine control and monitoring and an engine interface module (EIM), with common-rail injection and separate high- and low-temperature cooling circuits depending on configuration. A control alarm is therefore assessed alongside fuel, air, cooling and electrical checks.
We carry out routine servicing to the manufacturer schedule, with the scope set against the engine model, running hours and installation. Fluid condition, filters, belts, hoses, mountings and accessible connections are examined as part of the visit.
Our engineers investigate alarms, hard starting, loss of power, smoke, abnormal temperatures and pressure warnings. We begin with the operating history and a structured inspection, then test the system that the evidence points to.
We service and repair raw-water and closed-circuit cooling components, including strainers, pumps, hoses, coolers and heat exchangers where required. Warm seawater and high ambient temperatures can raise cooling loads during the Mallorca season.
We trace fuel-supply, starting, charging, sensor, wiring and control-circuit faults. Connections are checked for condition and security before replacing components or disturbing calibrated settings.
Before a return to service, we inspect the engine room installation, check fluids and cooling arrangements, and run the engines when conditions permit. Any defects found during the checks are recorded with the captain before further work proceeds.
Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

| One engine is running hot or a high-temperature alarm appears. | We first check raw-water flow, seacock position, strainer condition, pump operation, coolant level and visible leaks. We then compare actual temperatures with the indication and inspect coolers, hoses and heat-exchanger flow as needed. |
| The engine will not reach normal rpm, loses power or produces more smoke than usual. | We start with the alarm history, engine load and recent fuel use, then inspect air intake restrictions, charge-air hoses and fuel supply for restriction or water contamination. The engine is assessed under safe operating conditions before drawing conclusions. |
| The engine will not start, or an electronic control alarm is shown at the panel. | We check battery voltage, isolators, stop and start circuits, emergency-stop position, connector condition and the displayed code or message. A clear photograph of the panel before reset is useful evidence. |
| An oil-pressure warning appears, or there is oil in the bilge near the engine. | We check oil level, visible leakage, filter and cooler areas, then compare the sender indication with a measured pressure where appropriate. The engine should not be repeatedly run if oil pressure is in doubt. |

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.
Yes. Our engineers attend yachts at berths, shipyards and anchorages in Mallorca and elsewhere in the Balearic Islands. Access, safe working space, shore power and the fault symptoms should be confirmed before the visit. If a dockside test cannot reproduce the fault, we will agree the next diagnostic step with the captain.
Scope depends on the engine model, running hours, installation and the manufacturer maintenance schedule. We inspect the engine and associated systems, renew service items as agreed, check fluid condition and levels, review alarms and operating data, and run the engine where conditions permit. Findings and any follow-up work are reported clearly.
Reduce load or stop the engine if the alarm or operating conditions require it, following the yacht’s operating instructions. Do not repeatedly restart a shutdown engine. Photograph the display, note temperatures, pressures, rpm and what was happening, then call +34 971 251 374. Our published emergency response target is within two hours.
