Azimut yachts in the Bluebnc managed fleet

Bluebnc Yachting, our sister company, manages these yachts in Mallorca and works with Blueward Marine as its engineering company. Yacht figures come from each yacht's public Bluebnc listing; model figures come from the builder documents and tests listed at the foot of the page. Bluebnc Yachting

First checks on this model

  • Inspect both MTU engine cooling circuits, mounts, fuel-water separators, electronic alarms and operating temperatures under a representative load.
  • Check ZF 3360 gear oil, engagement, shaft seals, seawater-lubricated bearings, propellers, rudder bushes and shaft-line alignment.
  • Load-test both Kohler generators, checking cooling flow, fuel supply, controller alarms, voltage, frequency and transfer between generator and shore power.
  • Inspect fitted electric fins for actuator condition, cooling flow, electrical faults, control alarms and correct response under way and at anchor.

Published specifications change with build year and options. Before ordering parts we confirm engine, drive and equipment serial numbers on board.

About Azimut

  • 01

The Grande 32 Metri combines Carbon Fibre and GRP construction with Azimut's D2P hull, twin MTU diesels and conventional shaft lines. For engineering work, that directs attention to engine cooling and mounts, reduction gears, shaft seals, bearings, propellers, rudders and steering hydraulics, rather than pod-drive procedures.

  • 02

Mallorca's warm seawater and summer heat make cooling performance a first-line concern on the Grande 32 Metri. Inspect sea strainers for Posidonia and sand, verify pump changeover and flow through engine, generator and chiller circuits, and compare temperatures under load. Short operating turnarounds also make repeatable alarms and trend records useful.

  • 03

NEMESIS, listed as a 32 m Azimut 32 Metri built in 2021, is in the Bluebnc Yachting managed fleet in Mallorca. Bluebnc works with Blueward Marine as its marine engineering company, giving its management team a direct route for machinery assessment, fault planning, maintenance coordination and technical attendance across the island.

Systems on these Azimut models

  1. 01

    Main engines

The published package uses twin MTU 16V2000M86 diesels. On arrival, review alarm and diagnostic history, then inspect fuel supply, lubricating oil, charge-air path and raw-water cooling. In Mallorca's summer heat, compare both engines at equal load and look for temperature spread, restricted seawater flow, weakened hoses or heat-exchanger fouling.

  2. 02

    Shaft propulsion

ZF 3360 gears feed conventional shafts with seawater-lubricated bearings, pneumatic-stop shaft seals, five-blade nickel-aluminium-bronze propellers and twin spade rudders. Begin with gear oil and engagement, seal operation, visible bracket or propeller damage, rudder play and steering hydraulics. Any alignment review should include engine mounts, hull support condition and the complete shaft line.

  3. 03

    Chiller seawater

The Grande 32 Metri specification uses two seawater pumps for the air-conditioning chiller circuit, with one as standby. First inspect intake strainers for Posidonia or sand, prove pump changeover and record suction, discharge and chiller temperatures. Low flow in warm seawater can affect cooling performance quickly, especially when electrical loads and machinery-space temperatures are high.

  4. 04

    Electric stabilisers

CMC Marine Waveless STAB 40 electric fins are the published Grande 32 Metri option for operation under way and at anchor. Inspect fin actuators, seals, electrical supply, cooling connections and control-panel alarms. Test response in the permitted operating modes and investigate uneven movement, noise, overheating or repeated drive faults before resetting the system.

Questions captains ask

Engineers start with gear oil condition and engagement, then inspect shaft seals, bearings, brackets, propellers, rudders and steering hydraulics. Vibration or noise is compared across engine speed and load. Where alignment is involved, the assessment includes engine mounts, shaft-line supports and hull condition so that movement elsewhere in the installation is not mistaken for a coupling adjustment.

The published option is CMC Marine Waveless STAB 40 electric fins for use under way and at anchor. Checks cover electrical supply, drive alarms, actuator condition, seals, cooling flow and control response. Uneven deployment, overheating or repeated trips should be traced through the affected drive and its supply before controls are reset or components replaced.

Warm seawater, summer machinery-space temperatures and Posidonia or sand in strainers can reduce cooling margins. On the Grande 32 Metri, first checks include seawater intakes, pump output, heat exchangers and the chiller pump changeover arrangement. Temperatures should be compared across both engines and generators under similar load, rather than judged from one gauge reading alone.
