What we do

On a modern yacht the hydraulics do much of the heavy lifting: passerelle, crane, swim platform, tender garage and often the thrusters. They rarely fail all at once. It starts with a weep at a fitting, a slow cylinder or a power pack that runs hot, and gets worse.

We service and repair the hydraulic systems on board: power packs, pumps, valves, hoses and cylinders, and the equipment they drive.

  1. 01

Deck cranes, davits and tender-launching systems, including H+B Technics tender handling.

  3. 03

    Swim platforms and garages

Lifting swim platforms, hinges and tender-garage doors.

  4. 04

    Thrusters

Bow and stern thrusters, hydraulic and electric, including Sleipner Side-Power: motors, controls and servicing.

Hose replacement, cylinder resealing and repairs to leaking fittings.

02

Common faults and what usually causes them

Passerelle or platform moving slowly or jerkilyLow oil level, air in the system, a weak pump, or a valve or cylinder that's sticking or leaking internally.
Oil on deck or in the bilgeA leaking hose, fitting or cylinder seal. Note where it is and keep the equipment out of use until it's checked.
Equipment won't respond to the remote or controlOften electrical: the remote, a limit switch, a solenoid valve or the power supply, rather than the hydraulics.
Power pack noisy or running hotLow oil, a worn pump, or poor cooling.
Thruster weak or cutting outOn electric thrusters, battery voltage or a thermal cut-out. On hydraulic ones, pressure or flow. A damaged propeller or a fouled tunnel can also be the cause.
A crane or platform that creeps under loadA worn cylinder seal or a holding valve that isn't sealing. Treat it as a safety issue.

The equipment we see most

Manufacturers whose equipment we service. Not listed? Send us the make and model.

  • Opacmare

Italian passerelles, gangways and swim platforms, widely fitted to motor yachts.

  • Besenzoni

Passerelles, gangways, cranes and davits, plus deck hardware and railings.

  • Hydromar

Dutch gangways, passerelles and hydraulic systems for larger yachts and superyachts.

  • H+B Technics

German swim-platform lifts, hinges and tender-handling systems.

  • Sleipner (Side-Power)

Side-Power bow and stern thrusters, electric and hydraulic. Sleipner also makes stabilisers, covered on our stabilisers page.

Mallorca

Passerelles and Mediterranean mooring

Moored stern-to in Palma or Puerto Portals, the passerelle is the front door, in use many times a day through the season. A stuck passerelle can strand guests and crew, so it's worth having it serviced before the season rather than after it fails.

What to send us

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.

  • The equipment involved, with make and model if you know them
  • What it does or doesn't do, and whether it's slow, stuck or leaking
  • Photos of any leak and of the hydraulic oil level
  • Any alarm on the control panel
  • Whether it's needed urgently, for example to board guests

Describe it once — we arrive prepared

Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

Questions captains ask

Opacmare, Besenzoni, Hydromar, H+B Technics and Sleipner (Side-Power). For stabilisers by Naiad, CMC Marine, ABT-TRAC and Sleipner, see our stabilisers service.

Yes. Passerelle problems are fixed on board. Send photos and tell us whether it won't extend, slew or lift, and whether there's any oil, and we'll come prepared. If you can't board guests, call +34 971 251 374.

Yes, electric and hydraulic thrusters, including Sleipner Side-Power: motors, controls, propellers and servicing.

Small leaks tend to get bigger, and on cranes and platforms a leak can affect safety. Find where it's coming from, photograph it, and keep the equipment out of use until it has been checked.

Follow the equipment manufacturer's schedule. As a minimum, check the hydraulic oil and filters and inspect hoses and seals once a year, ideally before the season.
