Main EnginesMAN’s current yacht engine range includes V8, V12 and in-line six-cylinder engines. Its published range covers outputs from 730 to 2,200 hp.
MAN lists V8-1000, V8-1200 and V8-1300 models, alongside V12 models from V12-1400 to V12-2000, in its yacht range. The in-line six range includes i6-730, i6-800 and i6-850 models.
MAN describes the V8 and V12 yacht engines in its brochure as water-cooled, with plate heat exchangers cooled by seawater, common-rail direct injection and electronic control. Service work should consider the seawater side, closed coolant circuit, fuel delivery and electronic signals as a connected system.
MAN iSea is an electronic monitoring system for main drives and related attachments, including gearboxes and exhaust-gas aftertreatment. Its bridge display can show operating and control values, alarms and start/stop, so clear display photographs are useful starting evidence for fault finding.
We service MAN main engines against the applicable manufacturer schedule and the engine’s service record. We inspect fluids, filters, belts, hoses, drive connections and accessible cooling and fuel components, then report work that needs attention.
We use the fault information available on board, inspect the display, wiring, connectors, supply voltage and sensor circuits, and verify the complaint before changing components. On iSea-equipped installations, the displayed engine values and alarms provide a useful starting point.
We trace temperature, pressure and running complaints through the cooling and fuel systems. This can include seawater flow, heat-exchanger circuits, hoses, clamps, filters, leaks and fuel supply checks, followed by a controlled test.
We assess abnormal noise, oil leaks, vibration, poor starting and loss of output before agreeing the repair scope. Where internal work is indicated, we document the findings and plan the strip-down, repair and subsequent testing.
Before the season or after lay-up, we inspect the installation, run the engines under appropriate conditions and address defects found during the check. After work, we confirm cooling response, fluid condition and control response before handover.
Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

| The engine runs hot or loses power under load. | We first verify the temperature indication and operating condition, then inspect seawater flow, strainers, hoses, coolant level, leaks and the heat-exchanger circuit. We also check whether the problem appears only at higher load or on one engine. |
| The bridge shows an alarm, or the engine will not start. | We begin by recording the exact message and checking supply voltage, battery isolation, stop circuits, connectors and visible wiring condition. We then assess the relevant start, fuel-supply and control signals without bypassing protective functions. |
| One engine will not reach normal rpm or accelerates unevenly. | We compare operating values between engines where applicable and establish whether the condition changes with load. First checks include fuel supply, air intake and charge-air hoses, control inputs, boost condition and possible excessive load at the driveline. |
| There is smoke, a diesel smell or a rise in fuel use. | We identify the smoke condition and check it against load, temperature and engine response. We inspect for fuel leaks, air restrictions, charge-air leaks, exhaust abnormalities and signs of poor combustion before deciding on further tests. |

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.
Yes. Our engineers can attend MAN main engines at a berth, in a shipyard or at anchor in Mallorca and throughout the Balearic Islands, subject to safe access and the nature of the work. When booking, send the yacht location, engine model, running hours and any alarm message. Photos of the engine room and control display help us plan the visit.
A visit is scoped around the engine model, running hours, service history and reported condition. We carry out the agreed maintenance and inspection work in line with the manufacturer schedule, then record findings that need attention. For electronic controls, send display photographs and fault messages in advance. This lets the engineer begin with the information already available on board.
Reduce load if it is safe to do so and follow the yacht’s operating instructions. Do not continue running after a critical alarm or shutdown unless the vessel’s procedures say otherwise. Photograph the display, note engine speed, temperatures and when the alarm occurred, then call +34 971 251 374. You can also send the fault details and images through the online booking process.
