Part of our service
Main EnginesThe Cat C12 is published as a diesel marine propulsion engine. Its high-performance specification lists electronically controlled unit injection, electronic diagnostics and fault logging, plus engine and transmission monitoring.
The C18 marine propulsion engine is an inline six-cylinder, four-stroke diesel. Cat lists separate-circuit aftercooling and heat-exchanger or keel-cooled configurations, so the installation dictates the cooling layout we assess.
The C32 is a V12, four-stroke marine propulsion engine. Its published ratings use separate-circuit aftercooling for A-C ratings and seawater aftercooling for D-E ratings, and list electronic diagnostics and fault logging with engine and transmission monitoring.
On older 3500-series engines such as the 3512B, Caterpillar lists ADEM II electronic engine control with a control, monitoring and protection system, and an instrument panel that shows operating conditions and fault codes.
We carry out routine service work to the applicable manufacturer schedule, using the engine’s running history and condition to define the visit. Findings are recorded for the yacht’s technical file.
We trace restricted raw-water flow and inspect the heat-exchanger, jacket-water and aftercooler circuits fitted to the installation. Warm seawater and sustained summer running make sound cooling-system condition important.
Our engineers investigate fuel supply restriction, air-intake restriction, boost-related symptoms and exhaust-side issues. Testing starts with the reported operating conditions, visual checks and measured values.
We review panel messages and available fault information, then test supply voltage, sensors, harness connections and protection circuits. Parts are not changed until the fault evidence supports the repair.
We plan repairs from the diagnosis and carry out practical engine-room work. After winter lay-up or major work, we check for leaks, fluid condition, starting performance and normal operating readings before return to use.
Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.
Book online with photos| What you notice | Usual cause |
|---|---|
| High coolant temperature or a temperature alarm | We first check raw-water intake and strainer condition, pump output, coolant level and visible leaks. We then examine the relevant heat-exchanger and aftercooler circuits for restriction, plus thermostat and circulating-pump operation. |
| The engine loses power or will not reach normal rpm under load | We begin with the alarm history and the conditions in which power falls away. Initial checks cover fuel quality and restriction, water separation, air-intake condition, boost piping and exhaust back-pressure indicators. |
| The engine cranks slowly, will not start or stops shortly after starting | We check battery condition, isolators, cable connections and starting-circuit voltage drop before moving to fuel supply and priming. We also review any shutdown indication and the inputs to the protection circuit. |
| Low oil pressure warning or an abnormal oil-pressure reading | We confirm the oil level, external leaks and the reported reading with suitable checks before assuming an internal fault. Filter restriction, oil condition and the pressure-sender circuit are assessed first, with the engine kept stopped where the warning is serious. |

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.
Yes. Our engineers come to yachts at berths, shipyards and anchorages in Mallorca and across the Balearic Islands. When booking, send the engine model, fault details and photos so we can assess the work and access before attending. For a breakdown, call +34 971 251 374. Our published emergency response is within two hours.
A planned visit is set against the relevant Caterpillar manufacturer schedule and the engine’s operating history. We inspect serviceable lubrication, fuel and cooling items, check belts, hoses, wiring connections and leaks, and review available operating data and panel messages. The scope is confirmed once we have the model, serial number, running hours and installation details.
If a warning, high-temperature indication or low oil-pressure indication appears, reduce load and follow the yacht’s operating procedures. Do not keep running an engine with a serious alarm solely to reach the next berth. Photograph the display and note the alarm, running hours and conditions, then call +34 971 251 374. Our published emergency response is within two hours.
