Dometic, Cruisair and Marine Air yacht air conditioning service in Mallorca

Blueward Marine services and repairs Dometic, Cruisair and Marine Air yacht air conditioning in Palma, Mallorca and across the Balearics. Our engineers work on self-contained, direct-expansion and chilled-water systems at the berth, in a shipyard or at anchor. Book online, add fault details and photos for a job brief, or call the 24/7 line on +34 971 251 374 for a breakdown.

About Dometic equipment

  • 01

Dometic states that Cruisair has been sold under the Dometic brand since 2017. Its current marine guidance also identifies Cruisair, Marine Air and Condaria as legacy brands within the Dometic family.

  • 02

Dometic self-contained water-cooled marine air-conditioning systems place all components on a single chassis. A unit can cool one cabin or be ducted to two or more cabins, so access, duct condition and seawater circulation all matter during fault finding.

  • 03

A Dometic chilled-water installation comprises a chiller, air handlers around the vessel, freshwater piping between them and a seawater system. The chiller itself contains compressor, condenser and evaporator or heat-exchanger elements, so diagnosis must follow the complete heat-transfer path.

  • 04

Control arrangements depend on the installed system. Dometic describes Passport I/O as a microcontroller-based control for direct-expansion reverse-cycle systems, while CapTouch is intended for direct-expansion reverse-cycle and chilled-water systems.

What we do on Dometic equipment

  1. 01

    Planned AC servicing

We carry out routine maintenance in line with the relevant manufacturer schedule. The visit can include inspection and cleaning of accessible strainers, air filters, condensate drains, hose connections and electrical connections, where fitted.

  2. 02

    Cooling performance diagnosis

We investigate poor cooling from cabin to discharge. That means checking airflow and ducting, seawater flow, chilled-water circulation where fitted, operating temperatures and refrigerant-circuit behaviour before recommending work.

  3. 03

    Controls and electrical

Our engineers record alarm codes and verify supply voltage, breakers, terminals, sensors, control settings and equipment operation. We then distinguish a control or electrical fault from a cooling-water or refrigeration issue.

  4. 04

    Water circuit repairs

We trace leaks and restrictions in condensate, seawater and chilled-water circuits as applicable. This includes strainers, pumps, hose runs, clamps, drains and air removal from closed chilled-water circuits.

  5. 05

    Seasonal recommissioning

Before the charter season or after a lay-up, we run the system through its operating modes and check each accessible cabin unit or air handler. Any faults found are set out clearly before further repair work is agreed.

  6. Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

Common faults and what usually causes them

The system is running but the cabin is not getting cool.We first check return-air restriction, blower operation, duct condition and whether seawater is discharging. On chilled-water systems, we also check chiller operation and water circulation to the affected air handler.
The air conditioning starts, then alarms or shuts down.We record the exact panel code and check the power supply, breaker condition, control inputs and cooling-water flow before resetting anything. Repeated trips need a fault trace rather than repeated restarts.
Airflow is weak, or there is ice on the coil.We inspect the filter, return-air path, ducting and blower output first. Restricted airflow is a primary cause to rule out when an evaporator ices.
There is water in the cabin or below the unit.We inspect the condensate pan, drain hose routing and blockages, unit level and accessible water-hose clamps. We then identify whether the water is condensate or from the seawater circuit before work begins.

This is a guide, not a diagnosis. If anything affects safety, stop and call us on +34 971 251 374.

What to send us

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.

  • A clear photograph of the unit data plate, showing model and serial number.
  • A photo of the control panel, including any alarm or fault code, plus any known running hours.
  • A short description of when the fault occurs, what has changed and which cabins are affected.
  • The yacht’s location, berth, shipyard or anchorage, and any access or power constraints.

Questions captains ask

Yes. Our mobile engineers attend yachts at berths, shipyards and anchorages in Mallorca and throughout the Balearic Islands. Tell us the yacht’s location, access restrictions and whether shore power or generator power is available. For breakdowns, call +34 971 251 374. You can also book online and upload photos, so the engineer arrives with a clear job brief.

The scope follows the installed system, its condition and the relevant manufacturer schedule. On a water-cooled direct-expansion unit, we normally assess the air path, seawater strainer and flow, condensate drainage, accessible electrical connections and controls. On chilled-water systems, we also assess chiller operation, circulation, air handlers and the closed-water circuit. Findings are discussed before repair work proceeds.

Take a photograph of the display and note which unit or cabin is affected, the operating mode and the seawater discharge condition. Check only safe, routine items such as a tripped breaker or a visibly fouled strainer. Do not repeatedly reset a recurring alarm. Send the details through the online booking form, or call the 24/7 line for a breakdown.
