Main EnginesYanmar lists leisure marine diesel engines from 10 to 640 MHP. The range includes inboard and saildrive-compatible installations for sailing yachts and powerboats.
Yanmar’s common-rail line runs from 40 to 640 MHP and includes the JH-CR, 4LV, 8LV, 6LY, 6LF and 6LT series.
On these common-rail engines, sensors pass operating data to an ECU, which regulates fuel supply to a high-pressure rail and digitally activated injectors. Diagnosis must therefore consider the fuel supply and the engine's sensor and control circuit.
For propulsion, Yanmar lists SD25, SD60, SD110 and SD150 saildrives, as well as the hydraulic ZT370 sterndrive. Service work must account for the engine and the drive arrangement actually fitted.
We service the engine and associated drive equipment in line with the applicable Yanmar operation manual and manufacturer schedule. Scope is agreed after the model, hours and installation are confirmed.
We trace hard starting, power loss and smoke through the fuel supply, air intake, filters, connections and engine condition. On electronic common-rail installations, panel messages and recorded symptoms guide the initial checks.
We inspect the fitted seawater intake, strainer, pump flow, hoses, coolant circuit and exhaust-water path. This is important when warm seawater and charter-season running hours increase the cooling load.
We investigate starting, charging, panel, throttle and shift concerns. Our engineers test cabling, connections, switches and the control or drive arrangement fitted to the yacht.
We carry out condition-led repairs, then test operation after the work. After a winter lay-up, we inspect the engine, drive, fluids, batteries and cooling system before recommissioning.
Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

| The engine cranks but will not start. | We first check cranking voltage, fuel level and shut-off positions, then look for fuel leaks, air ingress, contaminated fuel or a restricted filter. We also note any panel alarm before disturbing wiring or sensors. |
| A high-temperature alarm sounds or little water comes from the exhaust. | We check the seawater intake is open, the strainer is clear and the raw-water pump is moving water. We then inspect hoses, belts where fitted, coolant level and the heat-exchange or exhaust-water circuit. |
| The engine has lost power or is producing unusual exhaust smoke. | We establish whether the problem occurs under load, then inspect fuel supply, air intake and exhaust restriction. We also check for excess propeller or drive load, and inspect turbocharger plumbing where fitted. |
| An alarm or fault code appears at the helm. | We record the displayed message and the operating conditions when it appeared. Initial checks cover oil and coolant condition, cooling flow, battery voltage and visible wiring or connector concerns, before moving to the relevant circuit. |

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.
Yes. Our engineers attend yachts at berths, in shipyards and at anchor in Mallorca and throughout the Balearic Islands. Send the engine model, access details and a short fault description when you book. For a breakdown, call +34 971 251 374 at any time. Blueward Marine’s published emergency response target is within two hours.
Scope depends on the engine, drive arrangement, running hours and service record. We start from the applicable manufacturer maintenance schedule and inspect the engine installation. Checks may include lubrication, fuel supply, cooling, belts, electrical connections, controls and the shaft, saildrive or sterndrive arrangement as fitted. We agree the work after assessing the yacht.
If an alarm appears or temperature, oil pressure, exhaust-water flow, smoke or vibration is abnormal, reduce load and follow the engine’s operation manual. Do not continue to run an overheating engine. Take a photo of the panel, note the circumstances and call +34 971 251 374. That gives the attending engineer a focused starting point.
