Prestige yacht service in Mallorca

Blueward Marine services Prestige 680 yachts in Mallorca, covering Volvo D13 engines, IPS pods, electronic steering, air conditioning and stabilisers. Our Palma engineers handle fault-finding, planned maintenance and repair at berths, shipyards and anchorages across the island.

Prestige began in 1989 with the Prestige 41 and now builds in Les Herbiers, France, and Monfalcone, Italy.

Prestige yachts in the Bluebnc managed fleet

Bluebnc Yachting, our sister company, manages these yachts in Mallorca and works with Blueward Marine as its engineering company. Yacht figures come from each yacht's public Bluebnc listing; model figures come from the builder documents and tests listed at the foot of the page. Bluebnc Yachting

Prestige specifies twin Volvo D13 IPS 1200 engines rated at 900 hp each, or twin IPS 1350 units rated at 1,000 hp each. Both installations use IPS joystick control, twin Nibral propellers and electronic power steering. BLUE M is a 2016 Prestige 680 in the managed fleet, listed at 20.7 m with 1.6 m draft and a 30-knot top speed.

First checks on this model

  • Download EVC fault history, compare engine hours and inspect D13 belts, hoses, mounts, exhaust connections and raw-water flow under load.
  • Inspect both IPS pods for gear-oil condition, seal leakage, anode loss, bellows condition and damage to the forward-facing propellers.
  • Function-test both helm joysticks, electronic steering, throttle response and bow-thruster controls, including low-speed manoeuvring and station transfer.
  • Clear seawater strainers, inspect coolers for fouling and verify engine-room ventilation before sustained summer operation in Mallorca.

Published specifications change with build year and options. Before ordering parts we confirm engine, drive and equipment serial numbers on board.

About Prestige

  • 01

Prestige combines French and Italian design and engineering, with fibreglass components made using vacuum infusion at its production facilities. On the 680, machinery access and routing around composite structures matter when inspecting mounts, bonding, tanks and services. Planned work should protect laminate surfaces and preserve access to the pod, electrical and cooling systems.

  • 02

The 680 couples Volvo D13 engines to IPS pods, electronic steering and joystick controls. These systems should be assessed together rather than as separate machinery. In Mallorca, warm seawater, summer engine-room heat and Posidonia or sand in strainers can reduce cooling margins. Short summer turnarounds make early checks of raw-water flow, pod condition, controls and ventilation particularly useful.

Systems on these Prestige models

  1. 01

    Main engines

Published 680 power is twin Volvo D13 IPS 1200 at 900 hp each or IPS 1350 at 1,000 hp each. Inspection starts with EVC fault history, service hours, oil and coolant condition, then moves to belts, mounts, exhaust connections, raw-water flow and ventilation under load.

  2. 02

    IPS propulsion

Volvo Penta IPS integrates D13 power, EVC, steerable pods, forward-facing counter-rotating propellers and joystick docking. On a 680, the first checks are pod oil, seals, bellows, anodes and propeller condition, followed by steering response, station transfer and stored control faults. Impact or fishing-line damage requires an external inspection before further running.

  3. 03

    Cooling and climate

Warm Mallorca seawater and summer engine-room temperatures reduce cooling margin. On the 680, inspect intake strainers for Posidonia and sand, verify raw-water flow through the engines and heat exchangers, and check ventilation before load testing. BLUE M is also listed with air conditioning, so seawater circulation, chiller controls, pumps and condensate drainage are early checks.

  4. 04

    Stabiliser systems

BLUE M is listed with stabilisers at anchor and underway. Initial engineering checks cover controller alarms, power supply, hydraulic or cooling support, mounting areas and response during a controlled test. Heat, fouling and low-voltage events can interrupt operation, so fault history and operating conditions are reviewed together.

Questions captains ask

The 680’s D13 engines, EVC controls, electronic steering, pods and joystick form an integrated Volvo Penta IPS installation. A fault at one point can affect manoeuvring or propulsion elsewhere. Service therefore covers mechanical condition, pod lubrication and sealing, control messages, steering response and software status as one diagnosis, followed by a controlled function test.

Warm seawater, high summer engine-room temperatures and debris can reduce available cooling margin. Checks start at the seawater intakes and strainers, then cover pumps, impellers, heat exchangers, hoses, exhaust flow and ventilation. Posidonia fragments and sand should be cleared before sustained load testing, with engine temperatures monitored through the EVC system.

BLUE M's listing records stabilisers at anchor and underway. Assessment starts with controller alarms, electrical supply, cooling or hydraulic support, mounting areas and service history, then proceeds to a controlled operational test. Because anchor and underway modes place different demands on the equipment, engineers record the conditions surrounding any shutdown, noise, vibration or reduced effect.
