About ABT-TRAC equipment

  • 01

ABT-TRAC makes hydraulic and electric yacht stabiliser systems for use underway and at zero speed. The installed arrangement determines the service approach.

  • 02

ABT-TRAC Digital Stabilization Systems use a three-term control that detects vessel motion and adjusts fin position to counteract roll. Their pilothouse interface is a touchscreen LCD control panel.

  • 03

TRACStar, its Stabilization At Rest feature, is intended to reduce roll when a vessel is anchored, moored or drifting. ABT-TRAC states that it can be added to most existing TRAC stabilisers and specified on new systems.

  • 04

ABT-TRAC also describes DC electric stabilisers for 24VDC and 48VDC installations. These use a proximity sensor and an absolute encoder to detect fin position and motion.

What we do on ABT-TRAC equipment

  1. 01

    Planned servicing

We service the installed stabiliser system in line with the manufacturer schedule and the yacht's operating record. The visit scope is set from the system type, hours, reported symptoms and access.

  2. 02

    Hydraulic system checks

On hydraulic installations, we inspect accessible hoses, fittings, fluid condition, filters, pump equipment and cooling arrangements where fitted. We investigate leaks, restricted flow and abnormal operating temperatures before recommending repair work.

  3. 03

    Electric drive checks

On electric installations, we inspect supply condition, protection, connections, actuator components and position-feedback circuits. We then test controlled fin movement and the response of the system.

  4. 04

    Controls and fault finding

We assess the touchscreen panel, displayed alarms, wiring and signals, then test system operation in the relevant mode. Clear fault details help us separate a control issue from a mechanical, hydraulic or electrical cause.

  5. 05

    Repair and recommissioning

Our engineers inspect accessible actuation and mechanical components, carry out agreed repairs and function-test the stabilisers after the work. We can also check the system after a winter lay-up before the yacht returns to service.

  6. Book online, upload photos of the problem and our AI technical assistant asks the follow-up questions an engineer would ask. Our team receives a structured job brief, so the right technician arrives with the right parts.

Common faults and what usually causes them

The stabilisers will not start from the control panel. We first check the system supply, protection devices, panel status and any installation-specific interlocks. We then confirm whether the command is reaching the drive or hydraulic equipment.
Roll reduction is poor or comes and goes underway. We check the selected operating mode, panel messages and whether the fins are responding consistently. The first inspection then covers the applicable hydraulic or electrical supply and accessible actuation components.
An alarm appears, or the system stops when at anchor or at zero speed. We record the exact message and establish the operating conditions when it occurred. We then check available power, system status and relevant drive or hydraulic conditions before clearing or retesting a fault.
There is hydraulic oil below an actuator or in the bilge. We check the location and amount of the leak, fluid level, hoses, fittings and accessible seals before operation resumes. An active hydraulic leak should be reported promptly and the system should not be repeatedly run.

This is a guide, not a diagnosis. If anything affects safety, stop and call us on +34 971 251 374.

What to send us

The more of this we have, the better our chances of arriving with the right parts. The online booking asks for it step by step.

  • A clear photo of the ABT-TRAC data plate, including model and serial number.
  • Running hours and the yacht's recent service or repair history.
  • Photos of any panel alarm, fault code or visible leak, plus when the fault occurs.
  • The yacht's current location, access details and whether the system is hydraulic or electric, if known.

Questions captains ask

Yes. We attend ABT-TRAC stabiliser work at berths, shipyards and anchorages in Mallorca and throughout the Balearic Islands. Send the yacht's location, safe access details and a panel photo when you book. For a breakdown, call the 24/7 emergency line on +34 971 251 374 so we can start the assessment.

The scope starts with the installed system and its operating history, whether hydraulic or electric, underway or at rest. We work to the manufacturer schedule, inspect accessible mechanical, hydraulic and electrical items, test control and fin response, and report defects found. Work on cooling circuits, pumps, drives or controls is determined by the installation and condition.

Record the alarm or message, take a clear panel photo and note whether it occurred underway or at rest. Do not repeatedly reset a fault or continue operating if there is a hydraulic leak, abnormal noise or overheating. Call +34 971 251 374 for a breakdown, or book online with the fault details for a planned inspection.
